WEEK 1 WRAP-UP!

Good morning from God’s Country!  Week 1 of the 2025 season is in the books and the baton has been handed off to the Week 2 guys and gals and they haven’t missed a beat.

As we break into spring up here mother nature provided ample wind if one was wanting to sail.  We had a consistent Easterly wind all week except for Thursday!  That did not discourage anyone as they drove all over the lake to get to their fishing spots.

Lake levels are high right now, but rainfall has been needed so the lake level is starting to drop.  The bush is dry and there are a few new forest fires up here.  If you get up here and smell smoke, you’ll know why.  Nothing close to us but it doesn’t take much to get smoke around here.  Fortunately, the weather cooled, and we received about 7-tenths of an inch last week.  With that being said we are already under a fire ban so if you desire to have a shore lunch you will have to use a propane cooker to fry your fish out on the various shore lunch sites.

Penthouse 2 Doug has earned and been awarded the Original Rich award, and the Original Rich was here fishing this week so how appropriate.  Doug decided to take his phone out in the boat while fishing, and … you know what happened.  Congratulations…sort of Doug!  He probably wanted an upgrade anyway.

The walleye bite has been nothing short of excellent, and we approached the 30-inch mark several times but couldn’t quite get over the hump.  Walleyes were all over the lake post spawn, and the river was still holding spawning fish as well.  Fortunately, we don’t keep any walleye over 18-inches, so the spawners get returned back right away.

Week 1 MFT results: Tourney started out on the cooler side and ended up a beautiful day to be on the water. Lots of Mid and upper 20 walleyes were had. The biggest went to Tim from Cabin 6 with a 28.5-inch Walleye. Dan from P1 CPR'd a very respectable 34-inch Pike, and Larry who was in Charlie's (guide) boat landed and released a 6-inch Walleye to top or bottom to win the Micro-fish prize. Well done, Gentlemen.

As funny stories arise I will definitely be including everyone on the blog to keep you informed! Tight lines and remember to send me photos!
