Week 5 was another excellent week of fishing. We had family up again and the camp was full with our usual guests for the week.
Walleye were still being caught in a lot of spring locations and summer locations. 10 to 18 feet seemed to be a good depth depending on time and cloud cover.
Chris from Cabin 6 was slip bobber fishing and put his pole down for a minute. Well you can guess what happened next. The story does have a happy ending. They followed the slip bobber until they caught up to it. He was able to grab the slip bobber and bring in a 22-inch walleye and then retrieve his pole. Obviously, he got distracted for his pole to get yanked into the water, but all well that ends well.
Same cabin 6 had Parker tell the tale of catching two small mouth bass at the same time on the same lure. I have to admit that’s a first for me. I’ve seen two or three fish caught at the same time when guys had more than one hook on a line in the ocean but never on one lure with two treble hooks. Too funny. If I didn’t see the picture I’m not sure it would be believable.
This week especially, we have lots of people fishing off the back of their boats in the evening and catching huge walleyes! Kent from C-7 CPR’d a gorgeous 28-inch Walleye right off the back of his boat. The fish are there in the evenings and this weeks crew takes full advantage of the evening bite!
MFT results for Father’s Day June 15th: MFT results for Father's Day: Chris from Cabin 6 boated and released a beautiful 28-inch Walleye! Tom from Cabin 7 grabbed the micro-fish prize with a 6 3/4-inch Small mouth bass, and Brad from C-2 landed and released a 29 1/2-inch Northern Pike! Great job guys! Happy Father's Day everyone!
