WEEK 6 WRAP-UP!

Updated: Jul 1

Week 6 blog so here we go.  Weather has been good, and we finally received rain.  The fire ban has been lifted so those of you who want to have shore lunch on the lake you can.  Just be very aware of putting the fire out completely.  Propane is still a nice alternative.   We still need rain in all actuality.

Walleye bite seems to be a bit behind due to the cool spring when it comes to locations.  Some gorgeous walleyes caught with 29-inch being the biggest. Nice fish Barry. We also had some personal bests caught this year. Earley stated he's been fishing 40 years for Walleye and his first catch on Perrault Lake was his biggest. I believe it was 26 3/4-inches. Plenty of fish caught, but usually by now the humps have heated up, and people are still catching a lot of fish in shallower water up to 18 feet.

Musky season is open and our biggest one so far was a 47 3/4-inch Musky from Luke up in P2. Dane caught another nice Musky this year as well. Terry had a nice musky and of course Rhonda with the winning musky on tournament day. Some nice Pike caught as well.

Congratulations to Rick from P2 another Original Rich award winner!  Rick was fishing up front (I’m assuming) as he caught or shall I say the trolling motor was caught and sucked the unattended rod out of the boat.  That is not all folks.  Somehow Rick’s fishing buddy impaled a treble hook into his finger.  Rick stated he caught the largest sucker of his life.  The clear water of Perrault claims another victim.  Hook was removed with pain and discomfort, but if you think P2 is done with stories alas I have one more.  Rich was getting a bit toasty while out fishing and decided to take his hoodie off.  After he pulled the hoodie off he heard two sounds:  1 clank, and 2 splash.  The phone did not float…  There was another story but I forgot to write it down so Rich gets to live without another arrow flown his way.  New crew this year and hopefully we will have more stories as they make the trek back up next year, or the near future.

MFT results for Tuesday June 24th:  Like in golf we had a weather delay to this weeks tournament. The fleet went out in beautiful weather yesterday and some nice fish were caught.  Kristy from Cabin 1 brought home the Micro Fish prize with a 6-inch smallmouth bass. Rhonda from Cabin 3 posted a great 36-inch Musky to win that prize. Cabin 7 Earley caught and released a 25 1/2-inch Walleye!  I forgot to award Kristy and Rhonda their prizes.  Watch the mail ladies!  Nice job everyone!

Hard to believe Week 7 is here and Independence Day is right around the corner. From all of us here at RSL we hope you all enjoy time with family, and friends over the 4th.

Tight Lines.
