Good afternoon rocky shore lodge week 7 blog.   Time flies and I find myself staring at Wednesday already.  Camp was full and we had some ridiculously great walleye weather.  In other words, if you came to sun bathe this was not the week for you.  We had a couple days where the sun poked through but mainly clouds, drizzle, some rain, and cool temps.  Definitely a different year compared to this time last year.  This week has been the opposite but that’s for next weeks update.

P2, C-2, C-5, C-4 (family, and friends) were out hammering the walleyes every morning on the humps, and also catching them in the evening as the bite was quite solid.  Every cabin that wanted walleye caught walleye, and of course I personally love that considering most people come to RSL to target Walleye.  Seems the magic number was 19 feet plus or minus a little bit.  Tons of fish being caught this week as the fish have finished their transition. Trevor and Sarah had a 126 Walleye morning Sunday! We still haven’t got to the 30-Incher yet but several 29’s were boated and released again this week.  The trophy walleye season is quickly approaching as we boat most of the monsters in late July into August so it will be interesting as we head into the later part of the season.  Who is going to be the first one this year?  Standby is all I can say.

Another week without the Original Rich Award being handed out, and I’m sure it’s been pure luck.  However, we did have an improperly stowed folding chair take flight while Dan was headed up the 502.  Where it landed no one knows but it wasn’t found so if you are in the market for a new (slightly worn and torn) chair you can drive up the 502 and keep your eyes peeled.  Dan said it’s free to whoever might come by it.

Tom and James from C-1 were up chasing muskies and boated a couple.  Tom saw what he considered to be the biggest Musky he’s seen chase his bait up to the boat only to miss the lure when it struck.  It always amazes me how a musky can violently attack a lure with 9 hooks and miss them all!

Perch were being caught with some regularity and the orchestrated cleaning station was on full display. These guys with Harvey can carve up some fish in quick fashion!

Week 7 MFT results:

Trevor hailing out of Penthouse 1 boated (and released) a 5 7/8-Inch Small mouth bass.

Trevor also captured the Northern Pike prize with a 23-Inch fish. It sounds like a few other larger fish were caught but our guests didn't think they would win so never took a photo and put them back in the lake. Please take a picture of all your fish on tourney day folks.

Duane in Cabin 6 boated a very healthy 27 3/4-Inch Walleye for the Walleye prize!

Congratulations to our winners!

The season is truly flying by and I meant to get the blog written and posted earlier, but we got into some projects and I didn’t want to stop to come and write this.  We all hope you had a great July 4th and were able to spend some time relaxing and celebrating our Independence!  Freedom isn’t free!

C-6 Dan, Mark, or Diesel you left your chair up here.  Let me know if you want me to bring it back to Wisconsin or keep it up here until next year.

Take care and Tight Lines everyone!

Good afternoon rocky shore lodge week 6 blog in a timely manner for once. Last week we actually had very nice temperatures for the most part and a couple excellent days with low wind.  This spring has been more breezy than normal and definitely more wet than normal which makes the lake level excellent and the fishing's been good.  I know it sounds like a broken record.

Had a few new members to camp this week.  Jessie, Katie, and their 4 year old son Wyatt.  That little guy reminds me of a young Trevor, and Jett.  He loves to fish just like the previously mentioned Trevor, and Jett.  Had a lot of fun watching him run from dock to dock assisting when he wasn’t catching fish.

The docks have been tremendous again this year and we are very lucky to have the ability to eat dinner and bobber fish off the docks and catch really nice Walleyes and Northern Pike as most of you know and have experienced.

Roy brought up his daughter Nicole, and grandson Nate for his first trip.  Rhonda you were missed and we look forward to seeing you next season!

John and Moe added two newcomers to RSL as well.  John’s good friend Terry and Terry’s dad Jim from Staceyville, Iowa (my families old stomping grounds).  They caught some nice walleyes and if memory serves me Terry’s first walleyes were caught last week!

Larry and Fay were up and last year as we were finishing the Fry Shack I told people we were going to have a contest to name the new cooking and bbq station.  Larry looked at me and say what about the Fry Shack, and over 60% voted for it.  They wore hats to commemorate the occasion.

Walleyes were located in 12-16 feet of water, and deeper on the sunny days we experienced last week.  Water temps are climbing slowly and are all over the place depending on what part of the lake you are on.  Mostly 60’s but a few places saw 70.

Week 6 MFT results:

April from C6 with a 8 7/8-Inch walleye.

Bruce Gorman C1 caught a beautiful 28-Inch Walleye and gave his trophy hat to our youngest angler in camp 4-year old Wyatt from P2.  Very nice Bruce!

Rounding out the competition Larry from C3 caught and released a 28-Inch Pike.

Nice job everyone and we had an absolutely gorgeous day yesterday.  That's two days in a row of beautiful weather.  I wonder if Summer has arrived up here.

We had some very nice perch brought in this week as well.

Dane from P2 started off his week with a 47-Inch Musky Saturday morning!  Not the 51-Inch Musky from last year but never the less a quality Musky!  Brian and Dane targeted Pike and Musky and Brian commented they had seen more big fish this year than the previous 17 years combined.  They did mention hookups on those big fish were down.  When you see the big fish we all know that’s half the battle.  There is always next year guys!

It's a short blog this week and we’re rolling into Week 7 quickly!  The season is 33% over already.  That’s crazy to say the least.  One last thing; our resident moose was caught on our trailcam we put on the driveway. Here's a couple photos. Keep the photos coming.  Tight Lines everyone.

Take care and Tight Lines everyone!

Good morning rocky shore lodge this is what happened during week 5.  First off, I hope everybody enjoyed Father’s Day with their dads.  Steve and I were pretty darn blessed to have my dad come up even though he's 91 years old and still went fishing every day and it was a really special week for us.  The Schweiger group came up as well and a lot of our family friends as well.

You know it's hard to believe so far this year we have only had one original rich award winner and that remains week five had zero incidents that would justify the trophy presentation of the original rich award not saying that's a bad thing that's kind of a good thing but I'm sure we'll have a few this year and I will be sure to let everybody know what happened

Water levels on the lake are still high and we continue to get enough precipitation to keep the levels high they have gone down a touch this week though we're looking at getting more rain and the water is probably going to remain high for most of the summer and that's not such a bad thing. We can deal with the higher water rather than the lower water

Walleyes last week definitely started their transition into summer spots.  Guys were chasing walleyes all over the lake and they arrived on some of the humps and there were a couple guys that love fishing the humps and they did extremely well Paul from cabin four boated at 146 walleyes a lot of them were caught off hump 1, some of them were caught near whale rock and a few other spots that he didn't necessarily tell me but they're normal summer spots.

Week 5 Monster Fish Tourney results from Sunday June 16, 2024:

Micro prize goes to C-2 Brad with a 9-Inch walleye.

The Walleye Trophy was presented to Beth from C-3 with a beautiful 26-Inch Walleye.

A Northern Pike measuring 32-Inches was caught photo and released by Ryan Perry.

Congratulations Winners!

Musky fishing started and there were also some nice Pike were boated this week! I don't have too many pictures.

What a memorable week for Steve and I.  We got out and went fishing with my dad three times and despite a few projects being put on hold it was well worth it.  I also got out

fishing with my brothers and best friend since kindergarten Mike (Eld) along with others.

As we turn the page to Week 6 an old phrase comes to mind that makes me a bit emotional these days thinking about it.  “Dad, Thanks for taking me fishing”!  I remember the first time he took me fishing and all the great times we had at Lake Agate in Minnesota back in the day and so many other fishing adventures we have went on throughout the years!  Don’t forget to make those memories with your family because you never know when

the opportunity will end!  I love you Dad!

Take care and Tight Lines everyone!
